Gang Rivalry Shootings

Anthony Orchard KC led Graeme Smith of 23 Essex Street, in the prosecution of two individuals, the first of whom was charged with the murder and attempted murder of two men. The shootings arose out of an escalation of gang tensions in the North West London area. The murdered victim was shot twice in the head whilst he stood outside a fast food restaurant. The second victim, who was attacked nearby, survived because the gun misfired.
After a nine-week trial at the Central Criminal Court, the first defendant was convicted of murder, attempted murder and perverting the course of justice.
The second defendant was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice.
Both men will be sentenced on the 2nd February.
