• R v AK [Southwark Crown Court] 2023

  Client acquitted of all charges in £5m money laundering offences

  Led by Jeffrey Israel, Phoebe defended an Italian national charged with multiple money laundering offences alongside multiple co-defendants, many of whom had fled the jurisdiction. The defendant was acquitted of all offences following a six week trial at Southwark Crown Court.

  Client acquitted of rape and controlling coercive charges

  Phoebe defended a man charged with multiple rape offences and controlling and coercive behaviour. These allegations were made following the breakdown of a relationship. 

• R v Youth Isleworth Crown Court 2023

  Prosecution of attempted murder following the stabbing of a 13 year schoolboy

  Led by Frederick Hookway, Phoebe prosecuted a youth for stabbing another schoolboy 17 times on his way to school. The defendant was ultimately convicted of attempted murder, having pleaded guilty to a s.18 offence and then attempted to vacate this plea.

  Rape & Controlling & Coercive Behaviour

  Sarah Forshaw KC leading Phoebe Bragg defended this trainee solicitor accused of rape and controlling and coercive behaviour over the course of an intimate relationship. The prosecution ultimately offered no evidence following a litany of disclosure failures and representations made by the defence. Instructed by Hickman and Rose.

  Phoebe was led junior in the prosecution of 8 defendants accused of conspiracies to burgle Tiffany & Co, Hermes and other luxury goods stores across Knightsbridge.

  Confiscation Proceedings

  Phoebe prosecutes in confiscation proceedings involving a multi-million pound mortgage fraud. These proceedings involve the application to vary the original confiscation order on the basis of ownership of property, principles of joint ownership and third party interests.

• R v ME [St Albans Crown Court] 2023

  Multiple Rapes & Assault

  Sarah Forshaw KC led Phoebe Bragg in the defence of a man accused of multiple rapes, assaults and harassment by a former partner. The Crown eventually offered no evidence before a jury was sworn. Instructed by James Farrell of Weightmans.

  As led junior Phoebe defends in a 12 handed trial involving allegations of kidnap, false imprisonment and blackmail. The prosecution allege that a Harrow gang kidnapped a number of men in Wales and transported one back to London where he was held for ransom. Phoebe is led by Jeffrey Israel.

  Multi-handed class A & B drugs conspiracy involving “Encro chat” devices

  James Martin led Phoebe Bragg in this 4 week case involving surveillance evidence and evidence of “encro chat” devices. The defendant was accused of being the head of an organised criminal network trafficking large quantities of class A & B drugs and involved expert evidence regarding the use of “encro chat” as well as significant legal argument regarding bad character evidence.

  International 'Phishing' Fraud

  Jeffery Israel led Phoebe Bragg in this 5 month case involving over 250,000 pages of evidence.  Defendants accused of international ‘phishing’ fraud and subsequent money laundering. Vast quantities of banking and telephone evidence as the monies were layered from the UK, onto Nigeria via China, giving rise to multi-jurisdictional issues and disclosure requests.

  Multi-handed conspiracy to defraud the immigration authorities

  Phoebe Bragg defended in a 17-handed conspiracy by Bangladeshi nationals to defraud the immigration authorities and obtain visas using fake documents. The multi-layered fraud involved both the UK and US immigration authorities.

  Fraud involving the sale of a Lucien Freud painting of Francis Bacon

  Phoebe Bragg successfully prosecuted in a fraud involving the Defendant purporting to be in possession of a genuine Lucien Freud painting of Francis Bacon, stolen in the 1980’s from a Berlin Gallery, and offering it for sale.

  Sexual activity with a child

  Phoebe Bragg was instructed for the defence in this matter involving Sexual Activity with a Child. Phoebe made a successful application to exclude the Crown’s evidence in relation to age on the basis that it did not satisfactorily amount to “expert” evidence.
