• R v G [Snaresbrook Crown Court] 2024

  5 Counts of Sexual Activity with a Child

  Olivia Haggar represented a client charged with five counts of Sexual Activity with a Child. The case required pre-recorded cross-examination of a 14-year-old witness. Following a four day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, the lay client was unanimously acquitted of all charges. Instructed by Marco Guarnieri of SA Law.

• R v Lourides [Kingston Crown Court] 2023

  £10 Million Ponzi Scheme

  Olivia Haggar, led by Cameron Brown KC of Red Lion chambers, prosecuted Marios Lourides for his part in running a £10 million Ponzi scheme. Following a 13-week trial at Kingston Crown Court, he was unanimously convicted and sentenced to 10 years. Instructed by CPS SEOCID.

• R v Bricka [Portsmouth Crown Court] 2023

  Multiple Counts Stalking & Perverting the Course of Justice

  Olivia Haggar, led by Paul Walker, represented a client charged with ten counts of Stalking and one count of Perverting the Course of Justice. The case concerned a prolonged campaign of stalking, described by Sussex Police as one of the most complex stalking cases they had ever investigated. Instructed by Andrew Bishop, Bishop & Light.

• Operation Scoutish [Kingston Crown Court] 2022

  £30 Million Money Laundering Scheme

  Olivia Haggar, led by Cameron Brown KC of Red Lion chambers, prosecuted several individuals for their part in a £30 million money laundering scheme. Following two trials at Kingston Crown Court, all were convicted.

• R v Singh [Winchester CC] 2021

  Manslaughter

  Mr S was accused of manslaughter. He was alleged to have employed an illegal immigrant to work in dangerous conditions. The worker was killed when a wall collapsed. The case gave rise to complex issues of law. Although Mr S was eventually convicted, by a majority verdict, the High Court Judge praised Paul for his handling of an emotive and difficult case.

• R v Cole [Reading Magistrates Court] 2021

  Burglary

  Olivia Haggar successfully prosecuted this individual for burglary of a quadbike. The offence was committed the day before the homicide of PC Andrew Harper, and came to light during the wider investigation.

  Conspiracy to commit fraud

  Pauline Thompson led Olivia Haggar in a conspiracy to commit fraud and associated money laundering. All ten defendants were convicted. Instructed by Croydon Trading Standards.

• R v Dr V [GMC & Crown Court] 2019

  Sexually Motivated Misconduct

  The defendant doctor, having been acquitted of sexual assaults on a patient at the Crown Court (also represented by Sarah Forshaw QC), was to face similar allegations brought by the GMC. Miss Forshaw, assisted by Olivia Haggar, was asked to represent him again at the full contested hearing which lasted 3 weeks. Once again, the complainant and other witnesses were cross-examined. The allegations were all found ‘not proved’ by the Tribunal. The Doctor has returned to full-time work. Instructed by BCL.
